Baking and more baking

I have a lot plans for baking and cake decorating for this Christmas season.  Last night Tucker and I dipped Pecan Sandies in red and white candy melts.  I must agree w/ Tucker that the chocolate tasted devine and it was irresistable but the kid could NOT keep his fingers to himself.  What was I expecting?

I did have grand illusions of making wonderful memories of Tucker and I decorating cookies and having fun.  Instead it may be overcast with audio memories of Mommy saying, "Stop touching the chocolate.  Don't put that in your mouth.  Now you can't use that to stir the chocolate.  No one wants your saliva on their cookies!!!"  "Real bakers don't..."  Oye!

Back up Candes.  The kid is 3 years old AND IT'S CHOCOLATE for pete's sake.  WHO in their right mind, man or child, is going to resist eating the stuff?  I certainly didn't last night.  So, I eventually eased up and quietly noted which cookies had been defiled by eager fingers.  Tucker reamained in good spirits and kept me from boiling over.

I turned the red and white cookies into snowmen wearing caps.  I'm going to attempt to do more batches and perfect my technique for a smoother finish.  They are delicious none the less.  I've dubbed the snowmen my "Motley Crew, " a little rough around the edges.

I must give credit to Sugar Shack at CC for sharing her idea, which she got from Favorz.net.  If you ask me, Sugar Shack did a nicer job.

So my next venture will be sugar cookies and giving Tucker the license to decorate however his heart desires.  Let the child be.  I'll take pictures and just expect to clean up a messy work station, i.e. our dinning room table, AND  a messy little boy.

How was YOUR week end?

Ok, you can call me Super Mom... or "What were you thinking, have you lost your marbles" Woman.

Late Friday afternoon my husband IM's me to say one of our couple friends has offered to watch the boys at their house Saturday from 8:30 to 1pm, am I up for that?  Ha, am I up for that?  What are you crazy?  Of course I am!!!  My friends are pregnant and I guess they wanted some "practice" with baby Carsen and they enjoy Tucker too so they wanted the package deal.

Now my husband and I could have said yes, by all means take the boys off our hands.  We can catch up on some much needed work around the house with the little interruptions of say, "Mom come wipe my butt." or stopping to breastfeed the little one or entertain him or relocate him so he's not bored.  Because we want to keep our friends we kindly said they could watch Carsen and Tucker would stay home with us and help Todd build his swing set.

If you know Tucker, he's a bit high maintence and have I mentioned he is entering the "Why" stage.  This morning he asked me why the spider made a "webix" in the passenger door way where I got entangled.  I'll make sure to ask him the next time I see him.  We'll have coffee and talk about a better locations.

I digress.

So Todd drops off Carsen.  I miss him (Carsen) already but my day is planned and I'll have plenty to occupy my mind.  I made cakes.  I made 4 White Almond Sour Cream cakes for my Wilton Course 3 tier cake final.  2 - 8x2 rounds and 2  6x2 rounds to be covered in my homemade Marshmellow Fondant.  with the extra batter I made a small oval WASC cake.  Then I made 2 - 8x2 rounds of Chocolate Pumpkin cakes, a recipe I found in my Country Living magazine.  PS Don't make their suggested frosting it was a soupy mess.  Because I had some extra time I made some choclate dipped pretzel rods with sprinkles.

Amist all this baking I managed to do two loads of towels, YES, towels.  I wait too long to wash those things.

SO, you think my Saturday is done?  NOOOOOoooooo.
