I read that article first thing morning and in an odd way it's good to know Todd and I are not the only ones feeling the pinch. Our childcare costs went up $20 more dollars at the begginning of this year. It was enough to suck the wind out of us. After reading the notice from the daycare my first words muttered were, "I don't know how we're going to keep doing this."
I'm almost embarrassed to say but we spent $9,670.00 on daycare last year. I didn't even know we had that kind of money. God got us through
Tucker has one more year before starting kindergarden but since his birthday in in November then we may have to wait the following year before he can enroll.
I (we) am almost at the point of saying "I can't afford to work." As it is right now after daycare and other work expenses I bring home $300.00 to contribute to household expenses. Granted, that money is NEEDED so the sacrifice to keep working will continue until at a given point in time we will make that decision for me to stay home with my boys.
So on to taxes...
Perhaps I'm being a bit premature but MAY BE just may be we will be getting a refund this year. Our medical expenses may exceed the limit since Carsen had to be in the NICU for about a week and all our doctor's visits and prescriptions will add up to a "nice" sum. Also the child tax credit will help.
I want to get this taken care of quickly. It's our habit to wait until the very last moment to mail our taxes off because we always end up owing.
